Tate Museum and Our Last Day in London

Happy New Year!

So glad you all could join us in 2018! Today, our professor let us sleep in a little because of last night’s festivities. We didn’t have to meet in the lobby until 10am. From there we headed out to The Tate Museum. The Tate is a modern art museum that is MASSIVE. When we first walked in, there was a giant ball swinging from the ceiling and behind that was a massive art piece with three person swings on them. We began to explore and man there was a lot to see. Here are some photo’s below (mouse over to look through gallery).

One of my favorites was really hard to photograph but you walked into a huge concrete room in darkness. You hear women screaming, and in the center of the room are boxes to sit on. Once you have sat down on a box, you are surrounded by about 8 projectors. The women are crying out for justice in another country. Once you exit this projector box, there is a long table, dimly lit with papers at each chair (photographed below).

We spent hours here looking at all the different exhibits on all the different floors. Once we had been through the majority, it was past lunch time so we went to grab some food. We ate at a place called Leon. It was a little weird but really fresh food and a cool, modern atmosphere. Once we left the restaurant, we headed out to Piccadilly Circle. We decided yesterday that we would return here to get tickets for a theatre show tonight. Once we made it to the half price ticket booth in the square, we deliberated for a while on what show to see, if we can make it on time, what seats to buy, etc. We decided to see An American In Paris and got the cheapest seats together we could.

We then decided, shivering and ready to go, to grab some coffee before going back to the hotel to finish a bunch of homework before class at 5 o’clock. We had hoped to make it Harrod’s but I don’t think that is a possibility anymore.

The game plan now is to get dressed for the play tonight, go to class where we are showing our class a progress update on some photographs, head out to the show and then afterwords go from there!

We are all super excited for the show and I can’t wait to update you all on how fabulous I know it will be!

Tomorrow we travel. We are leaving London in the morning and we will hit Dublin tomorrow afternoon! It’s kinda sad to leave London but I am SO excited for Dublin. I have been wanting to go to Ireland for such a long time so I can’t wait to get there!

I will keep y’all updated!
